Sharma Shields<\/strong><\/a> is the author of a short story collection, Favorite Monster<\/em>, and two novels, The Sasquatch Hunter\u2019s Almanac<\/em> and The Cassandra<\/em>. Sharma\u2019s short stories and essays have appeared in The New York Times, Electric Lit<\/em>, Catapult,<\/em> Slice<\/em>, Slate, Fairy Tale Review, Kenyon Review<\/em>, Iowa Review<\/em>, Fugue<\/em>, and elsewhere and have garnered such prizes as the 2020 PNBA Award, a 2020 Artist Trust Fellowship, 2016 Washington State Book Award, the Autumn House Fiction Prize, the Tim McGinnis Award for Humor, and the A.B. Guthrie Award for Outstanding Prose. She received her B.A. in English Literature from the University of Washington (2000) and her MFA from the University of Montana (2004). Sharma runs a small press, Scablands Books, and is a contributing editor for Moss. Sharma has worked in independent bookstores and public libraries throughout Washington State and is currently the Writing Education Specialist for Spokane Public Library<\/a>. About the Cascadia Writers-in-Conversation Series<\/h6><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On the second Thursday of each month<\/strong>, host Michael N. McGregor<\/a><\/strong> will bring one Northwest writer in front of an enthusiastic audience for a brief reading, a discussion of the author’s work, and a question-and-answer session with engaged literature lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series is intended to showcase the wealth of writing talent in the Pacific Northwest. <\/strong>To that end, it will feature writers from different genres at different stages of their careers who may have been overlooked rather than those readers already know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Writers who appear in the series will be featured on WritingtheNorthwest.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a unique chance to hear talented writers speak in-depth about what it means to be an author in the Northwest and why and how they create their works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The conversations will all take place in one of Cascadia\u2019s beautiful galleries, with Northwest art lining the walls:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
